I did my undergrad at Michigan State University, where I earned a B.A. in Political Science/Public Administration with high honors in 1978. After that, I went on to law school at the University of Michigan and received my J.D. in 1985.
I started practicing law that same year, working at two mid-sized firms before running my own solo practice for seven years. I then spent several years as in-house counsel for three different companies before returning to private practice in 2007. Along the way, I’ve gained a wide range of experience—both in the law itself and in how to get things done for clients.
My practice has long focused on business, corporate, and real estate matters, with a particular emphasis on commercial real estate transactions. I’ve handled everything from acquisitions and sales to financing, leasing, development, and construction deals—plus secured lending, licensing, and governance issues. After years of working on complex transactions, I bring a strong understanding of both the details and the bigger picture.
My wife and I live in Troy, Michigan, and we’re proud parents of two grown daughters—one a teacher, the other a social worker. I enjoy sports (both watching and playing), traveling, and staying active.
